Thornhill Homes for Sale and Neighborhood Overview
It is no secret that Charlotte has grown by leaps and bounds, especially over the last 10 years. As the area has evolved into one of the Southeast’s super powers, scores of talented architects and designers have created an amazing number of outstanding places to live. Throughout Mecklenburg County, we certainly boast some of the loveliest neighborhoods in the country. One of them without a doubt, is the charming community of Thornhill.
Location, Amenities, and Convenience
Established in the early 1990s, today Thornhill includes nearly 500 homes. As we all know, location is a key factor in choosing where to put down roots and Thornhill’s is right on target! It is an easy drive to most of the Queen City’s hotspots, plus convenient to I-485, The Arboretum, Weddington Corners, Stonecrest and Ballantyne.
Even though the construction of Thornhill began around 20 years ago, it has the timeless look of a well-established, classic Piedmont neighborhood. The designers and developers incorporated many of the existing native plantings and mature trees into their plans. The south Charlotte community is easy to find thanks to Thornhill’s impressive stone entrance that was modeled after another stately development in Atlanta.
One noteworthy landmark is the nearby “Big Rock Park”. The 22-acre nature preserve is said to mark an historic Native American site. The best way to appreciate Thornhill’s appeal is with a Sunday afternoon drive. You will undoubtedly see folks out in full force enjoying all that their lovely neighborhood has to offer. You’ll also find that residents here take great pride in keeping their gracious homes and grounds well manicured, year round.
Today’s homeowners look for amenities and convenience, and Thornhill delivers! In addition to being close to everything that’s anything-the neighborhood has a community pool, clubhouse, picnic area, tennis courts, children's playground and walking trails. Residents are extremely connected and enjoy getting together at a number of special events throughout the year including, block parties, swim meets, tennis tournaments, parades, fitness and play groups, plus the Thornhill book club.
Because Thornhill is in one of the area’s best school districts, families with kids enjoy a little extra peace of mind. There is also the added benefit of raising children together in a supportive, connected environment-and as we all know-“it takes a village”.
A few more selling points are this neighborhood’s affordability and variety. Prices for these homes currently range from the low to mid-200s to the high 300s. Home sizes average between compact and cozy at 1300 square feet to some of the larger homes that are massively majestic at 4500 square feet. However, the average is right around 2500 square feet. Most of Thornhill’s two-story residences have two-car attached garages as well.
